Valvoline Europe, the European subsidiary of Valvoline Inc. – a leading worldwide supplier of premium lubricants and automotive services – has become an official Technical Partner of KTM Sportcar GmbH, the Austrian super sports car manufacturer.

The agreement will see Valvoline formally adopted by KTM Sportcar GmbH as its exclusive recommended lubricants and automotive fluids partner. This encompasses the factory first-fill of all lubricants, fluids and coolants for all KTM X-BOW road and race cars, and the exclusive recommendation of Valvoline to the KTM Sportcar GmbH official global dealer and service agent network.

In addition, Valvoline Europe will provide technical support to Reiter Engineering (development and racing partner of KTM Sportcar GmbH), and True Racing (KTM’s semi-works team) throughout the 2019 motorsport season. This support will include engine performance and lubricant analysis consultancy across several pan-European racing series.

“This new relationship with KTM Sportcar GmbH spearheads a new and exciting era for our brand in Europe,” said Diego Brodoni, Vice President at Valvoline Europe. “High performance cars place extreme demands on engine lubricants, and to receive an exclusive recommendation from such a prestigious, performance-oriented road- and race-car brand reflects Valvoline’s status as one of the world’s most trusted quality lubricant suppliers.

“Equally exciting is the advanced support that Valvoline lubricant specialists will provide to the Reiter Engineering and True Racing teams as they campaign KTM X-BOW racers across Europe. Valvoline boasts an extensive and successful heritage in motorsport, and we look forward to building on that and seeing our brand at many of Europe’s most famous and challenging circuits this season.”

KTM Sportcar GmbH managing director Michael Wölfling adds: “A partnership with a leading multinational brand like Valvoline is, without any doubts, a big and important step for a small series manufacturer like KTM Sportcar GmbH. We are very excited about this cooperation, especially as it is far more than just conventional sponsoring. It really is a technical partnership and we’re absolutely convinced that it will bring huge benefits for both parties!”

Race team sponsorship

As part of the partnership, Valvoline will be a sponsor of KTM and its racing partners Reiter Engineering and True Racing in the GT4 European Series, ADAC GT4 Germany championship and Creventic 24H Series European Championship. The first competitive outing for these closed-cockpit race cars will be at the legendary Monza circuit in the GT European Series, over the weekend of 12 to 14 April.

In addition, open-cockpit KTM X-BOW RR models adorned with Valvoline branding will see action in KTM’s own competition, the KTM X-BOW Battle series.

Racers have depended on Valvoline for more than 100 years. Valvoline provided lubricants to the winning car in the first automobile race in the U.S.A, held in Chicago in 1895. Since then, Valvoline has maintained close working relationships with top-tier teams and drivers in Formula 1, World Rally, TT Races and various series throughout the United States, including NASCAR, ARCA and IndyCar.
