Dixon's Semifinal Finish Best for Team Valvoline in NHRA National Event
JOLIET, Ill. (June 7, 2009) -- After scoring a pair of wins at last week's national event in Topeka, Kan., the NHRA Valvoline team had an off weekend at Route 66 Raceway.
Scoring the best result for Team Valvoline was Top Fuel dragster driver Larry Dixon, who reached the semifinal round. Dixon was last week's Top Fuel winner.
Ron Capps, a four-time season winner, lost in the first round, but still leads in the point standings.
Tony Schumacher, a three-time season winner, also lost in the first round. He slipped from first to second in driver points.
The Top Fuel winner was rookie Spencer Massey, his first national event win. The Funny Car winner was Tony Pedregon while Jeg Coughlin won in Pro Stock and Matt Guidera in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
