Schumacher Powers to NHRA Victory
At the NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Ill, it was a final-round Top Fuel dragster battle between two Team Valvoline heavyweights -- Tony Schumacher and Hot Rod Fuller. The victor was Schumacher, who claimed his fourth win of the season.
Schumacher won from the pole and the victory was his 45th career, seven shy of all-time Top Fuel winner and former Valvoline driver Joe Amato.
Schumacher's elapsed time and speed in the final round was a weekend best of 4.449 seconds at 329.83 miles per hour.
"All I can say is wow," offered Schumacher. "I can only reiterate that I have the best team in the business. When you surround yourself with talented people, positive results usually happen."
