Race Summary: Elliott Sadler started Sunday‟s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway from the 30th position and though he was able to pick up several positions in the initial laps of the event, Sadler communicated to his team that the No. 19 Stanley Ford was loose in and off the corners.
Crew Chief Wally Rogers called for a four tire and fuel stop during the first pit stop of the day, which came at Lap 37. The crew also made a wedge adjustment in an effort to help the handling of the car. Sadler continued to be bothered by issues with rear grip and went one lap down to leader Kasey Kahne just before the 100-lap mark, but acknowledged that the car was handling better just a couple of laps later.
Sadler held down 29th place at the halfway point of the 301-lap race and Rogers worked to help his driver with the handling of the machine by making an air pressure adjustment during a Lap-176 pit stop. With 80 laps remaining in the event, Sadler had worked his way into the top 25 and radioed to his crew that the Stanley Ford was much better on the long runs, but the car would need a bit more help to turn well in the short runs that he antici-pated would occur late in the race. Sadler lined up inside the top 20 for a Lap 246 restart.
Sadler ran as high as 16th in the closing laps of the race and when the checkered flag flew, he held down 19th place.
Sadler on the Loudon Event: “This Stanley crew never gives up and I‟m really proud of them. Our Ford Fusion wasn‟t exactly where it needed to be to start the race and Wally and the guys worked on it all day. By the end, it was pretty good on the long runs and I think if we could have made that lap back up that we lost early on at some point during the race, we would have had a pretty good finish. We‟re not where we need to be just yet, but every week we get closer and closer to it.”
