Things to Think About In May

5/5/2008

Thirty-three things for you to think about while at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May:

Danica won and the series is one.

A Rahal was first and there's no controversy at last.

Castroneves danced but Forsythe walked.

Newman/Haas is in but Paul Tracy is out.

Corn is in the fuel and Rice is in the 15.

Milka has a ride but I Duno why.

Emmo is driving the pace car and the Yellow Shirts are driving everyone nuts.

There's a Foyt IV and a Foyt with 4.

Franchitti cashed-in his stock option while Kalkhoven cut his losses.

Sam went south but news attention is headed north.

Hideki is with a top team and that's thanks to Honda.

Dan got new teeth while Helio got a new teammate.

Cheever is on TV and Michael Andretti's lawyer is TIVOing everything Eddie says.

Jeff Gordon said he'll probably never race in the 500 before his career stops but Patrick Long would like to give it a go.

Coyne's team could use a few more bucks.

Tony Cotman got a new gig and Steve Johnson got his walking papers.

Scott Dixon is still fast and Marty Roth is still, well, Marty Roth.

Tony Kanaan drives a green machine but wants the winner's green money.

Max Papis can't get his words out fast enough but Brienne Pedigo can't seem to get her words out without fumbling.

It's more fun to watch DirectA.J. than DirecTV.

Fan enthusiasm is up and the number of unsold tickets is down.

There are two Marios on the track and another in Marco's pits.

Roger Penske's cars are red-and-white but other sponsor-challenged owners are blue.

Briscoe had better win pronto.

Jim Nabors says he's coming back but Paul Stoddard says he's not interested.

Justin Wilson is learning oval racing Justin Time.

The National Guard is sponsoring a Brazilian driver.

Sarah Fisher is glad to own her own car but Carl Haas isn't happy to own a lot of Panoz parts.

Will Power found a seat but Derrick Walker lost his sponsor.

Julianne Hough will sing but the high notes will come from Honda.

Ed Carpenter runs the full schedule but Tomas Scheckter is only a part-timer.

The competitors are saying the right things but what happened to the sport in the last 12 years was wrong.

The future is in the hands of Tony George because Champ Car is in the past.
