Valvoline Premium Blue® Extreme Engine Oil
Hi-Performance Synthetic Engine Oil. The Premium Blue Advantage:
- Hi-Performance Synthetic Technology meets the most demanding requirements of modern EGR engines operating at elevated temperatures, higher soot and higher acid levels in the engine oil.
- Cummins approved for 5,000-mile oil drain extension, under normal duty, for 2007 engines.
- Superior synthetic basestocks provide faster, safe starts during freezing weather and enhanced thermal properties for hot weather operations.
- Unique formulation has demonstrated improved fuel economy over leading conventional oils.
- Reduced high temperature carbon buildup - both single and two-piece pistons - and ring/liner wear protection leads to improved oil consumption control.

Overview
Premium Blue® Extreme provides fuel economy benefits for on-highway Class-8 trucks. Statistically significant test results find up to 3% maximum improvement in fuel economy using SAE J1321/TMC RMP 1103, Type II techniques*. Testing was conducted by a leading independent laboratory.
Valvoline Premium Blue® Extreme is formulated with high-quality synthetic basestocks and a boosted additive system. The hiperformance synthetic technology meets the stringent demands of modern diesel engines; including EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) control systems, operating under standard and extended service intervals.
Valvoline continues it's tradition of providing a superior full synthetic oil that is field proven and delivers exceptional TBN retention, extended drain approved, enhanced fuel economy potential over conventional oils, advanced soot control, outstanding viscosity retention and excellent all weather performance. The hi-performance synthetic technology is designed to meet the most demanding needs of modern diesel engines, including 2007 models equipped with DPF and enhanced EGR, running both ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and low sulfur diesel fuel.
How To Use
To change your motor oil:
- Jack your car up or use drive-on ramps.
- Pop the hood. Remove the oil fill cap and dipstick, then use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter housing 4-5 complete turns to allow the air to get in so the oil can drain out. Temporarily put the oil pan under the filter to capture any spillage. Place the oil drain pan directly under the drain plug on the engine.
- Drain the oil. Using a socket wrench or a combination wrench of the right size, loosen the oil drain plug on the engine and remove it completely. Let the oil drain completely from the engine.
- Save the used oil. Collect it in a clean container and take it to a recycling center. To find a recycling drop off point, check with your local auto parts retailer or your municipal recycling center.
- Tighten the drain plug. Replace the drain plug on the engine oil pan then tighten it.
- Remove the oil filter. Place the drain pan directly under the oil filter. The filter should be removable by hand. If not, use your filter wrench and rotate the filter counter-clockwise to remove it.
- Rub the gasket. Before attaching the new filter, rub motor oil on the rubber gasket on the base. If you don't do this, it will be hard to get the filter off the engine the next time. Make sure the gasket from the old filter came off and is not still stuck on the housing.
- Screw on the new filter. Screw the new filter onto the filter pipe all the way down to the base (using hands only) until it is tight. Use the filter wrench and turn the filter one-quarter turn more to seal it.
- Fill with motor oil. Find the engine oil fill on the valve cover and fill with the amount and kind of new engine oil specified in your owner's manual, usually 4-5 quarts. Cap the oil fill hole.
- Lower the car, then start it. Start the engine but do not rev it – just let it idle. Let the car run for about five minutes to warm up the engine and allow the oil to circulate. Check under the vehicle and make sure the filter is not leaking oil onto the pavement. Shut the engine off. Check the dipstick on the engine to make certain it reads "FULL."
