Maximum Maxima
Project car gets done up to the hilt
Created by Harvey SchwartzThe 2004 Maxima comes action-packed, but that didn't stop the folks at Classic Soft Trim in Austin, Texas, from taking almost every element a few steps further. Their stunning '04 Maxima project car has been attracting a lot of attention from automotive enthusiasts wherever it's been on display. Classic Soft Trim has successfully taken this already great looking and great performing sport sedan and loaded it with their best products on the inside, then added a long list of exterior and mechanical upgrades to make their project car look and handle even better — a real "Maximum Maxima."
Paint Scheme
Starting with the paint, the design features pin striping on the hood, rear side quarters and trunk. Kai Koncepts, using House of Kolars custom green and black paints, performed this very unique paint job.
Eibach springs were used to lower the Maxima 1.5 inches up front and in the rear conveying a bolder stance. This more aggressive look was further enhanced with Stillen's latest four-piece aerodynamic ground effects kit that is specifically designed for the all-new Maxima.
The factory grille was removed and replaced with a beautiful custom billet aluminum grille from Trenz. The Maxima was then fitted with bigger 20x8-inch chromed, 'Tramp' aluminum alloy wheels from KMC that are wrapped by beefier, P245/35ZR20 Toyo high-performance, low profile tires. From the rear the four bigger 3-inch round exhaust tips let you know that there's more power coming from the standard 3.5-liter, 265-hp V-6 engine. This engine was fitted with a bigger, custom Stillen air-filter kit, and stronger spark plug wires from Racing Sports. The dual, custom cat-back exhaust system was fabricated and installed by CGS Motorsports.
Grilled to Perfection
Quickly and safely slowing the more powerful "Maximum Maxima" down from speed are a set of four vented and slotted brake rotors from Stillen. The factory calipers were painted a matching powder coated green. The factory brake and throttle pedals have been replaced with aluminum faced pedals from Trenz.
The interior cabin was made more comfortable with re-upholstered front buckets and rear bench seat using Classic Soft Trim's latest butter soft, copper and carbon fiber-look leather. Identical leather was added to the top and bottom of the steering wheel, each door panel, and the dashboard. The front bucket seat backs also feature a massaging function by Aisin Systems. The color matched custom embroidered floor mats are from Designer Mats.
Inside Out
The factory audio system was removed and replaced with a booming Rockford-Fosgate audio system featuring 5-inch front- and 7-inch rear-door speakers, dual 12-inch bass tubes, and dual 1,000-watt amplifiers mounted in the trunk. Behind each front headrest is a 7-inch color TV/DVD screen from Salient Design. The sexy interior lighting and neon accents are from Plasma Glow.
The Classic Soft Trim 2004 Nissan Maxima project vehicle is an undeniable head-turner, grabbing attention whether on the road or on display. This special Nissan Maxima is paramount proof that the automotive aftermarket is still booming as manufacturers continue to offer enthusiasts more products for vehicle personalization.
